Custom T-Shirt Diary 14: Lilac Sunday

Making the t-shirts for Lilac Sunday, a Boston Arboretum (run by Harvard University) annual tradition, excited me because I used to live across the street on St. Rose Street in Jamaica Plain and learned to ride the bike in the Arboretum. Lilac Sunday, on Mother’s Day and when the lilacs are expected to be in full bloom, is their biggest event of the year.

The t-shirts were technically complex but exceptionally beautiful. Four colors were involved: two shades of green and two purples. Getting the colors right was so important that we Pantone-matched the colors to get as close 100% exact color accuracy in the inks. Printed on a “natural” colored t-shirt, they looked beautiful! They seemed even greater when I stopped by the event the next Sunday and saw that most colors had sold out by 2pm.
