Custom T-Shirt Diary 57: Downtown Crossing SQRZ

In anticipation of selling t-shirts in the Downtown Crossing neighborhood of Boston we designed and screen printed a new SQRZ t-shirt. All our SQRZ apparel is based on the geography in Boston. The city is famous for having streets which evolved from old cow paths. It’s the opposite of a city grid like Chicago, New York, or Buenos Aires. Depending on your enjoyment of adventure the street layout can be a fun part of your Boston experience.

All of our previous designs are based on modern-day streets. But upon looking at the present configuration of streets in Downtown Crossing we decided to use an old map of Boston from 1722. In fact, it’s the oldest known map of the city. And with amazing street names like “Hog Alley” and “Cow Lane” we simply could not resist using this vintage street layout. So enjoy the pictures of this most recent SQRZ t-shirt and next time you get off at Park Street Station picture yourself strolling down Bishop Alley in the 1700’s.
