Shakespeare and Wednesday Wars: Using Student Artwork for Creative T-shirts
The Charlotte Library needed a fresh way to meet a summer reading requirement. They found it by pairing a modern book, Wednesday Wars, with the not-so-modern, but ever relevant Shakespeare (you can read more about the project itself here). The middle school students lucky enough to participate in the project had a tremendous time coming up with Shakespearean insults and acting out theatrical moments in podcasts. We had a lot of fun making custom t-shirts for the group to commemorate the project, using artwork created by the students themselves.
What do you think, could these kids be professional artists as well as bards? We were thrilled with their work, and with the t-shirts themselves. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
